Narrowing Down Honeymoon Choices
How do you narrow down all those wonderful honeymoon resort choices and find the “Perfect Honeymoon” for the two of you?
What makes a great honeymoon package? Choices, it’s all about choices. When working within a budget, and lets face it most of us have budgets choices are what it’s all about. So first of all set a budget range. Your honeymoon planner will and should ask for this. Don’t hesitate to share it with them it will make both your job and their job more easier. Now on to the FUN part, making your honeymoon wish list. It might look something like this, but remember every list is going to look a little different.
- Adults only
- Swim up/swim out room
- Casita Suite
- 24 hour room service
- Beachfront
- Concierge
- Swim up bar
- Butler service
- Suite
- In room bar
- Jacuzzi
- Ocean view
- Balcony
etc…..Once you finish your list, rate you honeymoon destination all inclusive “wants”, with stars like hotel ratings. your 5-STAR wants are an absolute must, 4-STAR wants have room for compromise, 3-STAR want have even more room to negotiate. There can be more than one “want” in each STAR CATEGORY. A quick hint – try not to put them all in the 5STAR column! Then rank your “wants” in each STAR column, #1 being most important. Get the idea?
Here’s what it might look like:
5STAR – #1Adults only #24 hour room service #3Beachfront #4Balcony
4STAR – #1Swim up/swim out room #2Jacuzzi #3In room bar #4Concierge
3STAR – #1Butler service #2Casita Suite #3Swim up bar
Do you see what you have done? You have sorted your list of honeymoon destinations all inclusive wants and ranked them by most important. Compromise might be important to stay within your budget so by creating this list you are prepared ahead of time. It doesn’t mean you will need it, it only means you are prepared because you have rated and ranked your honeymoon wants.
Now when it comes to destinations there too, it’s important to have choices if you are considering an all inclusive honeymoon and have a budget. Certain areas of the world like Mexico and the Caribbean truly specialize and optimize the choices you will have when it comes to all inclusive resorts. If you choose an area with less all inclusive resorts, you will have less choices, which might mean less opportunity to look for areas of compromise when it comes to your list.
Look for newer resorts without a past guest following. Often times these resorts have wonderful rates for their first 6 to 9 months in operation. A certain percentage of guests at every resort are repeat guests so take advantage of resorts who don’t have this luxury, or for whom “word of mouth recommendations” is just starting.
When choosing a newer resort sometimes patience is required. The resort and staff are new so expect some glitches during your stay. Remind yourself if the room service takes a bit longer than normal or turn down service is missed, that your beautiful ocean view room, with balcony and jacuzzi were what you wanted most. You rated them a 5-STAR and you got them on your budget!
